GST invoices next to your clients and deals

Superlane has GST invoicing built in, so clients, deals and invoices sit in one place. It is made for businesses that bill for services, such as agencies, consultants and IT firms.

Enter your legal name, registered address, GSTIN and bank details once in settings. Superlane will not raise a GST invoice until they are filled in.

Invoices are raised for a billing client, not straight from a deal. When you mark a deal won, Superlane offers to create that client, filled in from the contact's details.

CGST and SGST, or IGST, worked out for you

Superlane decides the tax type on every invoice. It compares the state in your GSTIN with the client's place of supply, taken from their GSTIN or, if they have none, their state.

  • Same state: CGST 9% and SGST 9%.
  • Different state: IGST 18%.
  • Union territory: a business registered in a union territory such as Chandigarh shows UTGST in place of SGST.

The invoice form shows the place of supply and the tax split as you fill it in. If a client has no GSTIN or state on record, Superlane uses your own state and warns you to add theirs.

Discounts, in rupees or as a percentage, come off before tax, and every invoice shows the amount in words.

GSTIN checks and SAC codes

Superlane checks each client's GSTIN: its format, its state code and its check character. A mistyped GSTIN is caught before it reaches an invoice.

Each line on an invoice carries a description, SAC code, quantity, rate and amount. Each client can carry its own SAC code too.

Your own invoice number series

Choose your own format, such as ACME/26-27/0001. Superlane keeps numbers within the 16 characters GST rules allow, and counts afresh each financial year when the year is part of the number.

GST and non-GST invoices have separate series. If you move to Superlane mid-year, set the next number so your series carries on.

A number is used only when an invoice is saved, so a failed save leaves no gap.

Once an invoice is sent or paid, only its due date and notes can change. To correct a sent invoice with no payment on it, cancel it and raise a new one. The cancelled invoice stays on record.

Email invoices from your own business address

Superlane sends invoices from your own business email, which you connect once. It works with providers such as Google Workspace, Zoho Mail and Microsoft 365.

The email lists the items, the total, the amount in words, your bank details and your GSTIN. You can also download each invoice as a PDF in your brand colours, titled "Tax invoice" when GST applies. A client's name written in Hindi prints correctly on it.

Superlane does not send invoices on WhatsApp. To share one there, download the PDF and send it yourself.

Payments and what is still owed

Record each payment as it arrives, with the date, the mode (UPI, bank transfer, cheque or cash) and the UTR or reference number. A part payment marks the invoice partly paid and shows the balance due.

Once an invoice is fully paid, its PDF becomes a receipt marked "Paid". The billing page shows what you collected this month, what is outstanding, and unpaid invoices grouped by how late they are.

Superlane does not send payment reminders to your clients. An automatic check that marks late invoices overdue and adds a follow-up task is built, but it is not switched on yet.

For agencies billing many clients

Save each client's monthly retainer and the day of the month you bill them. Each month, one click on "Generate Drafts" creates a draft invoice for every retainer client, which you check and send.

A retainer can also hold several line items, such as SEO and Meta ads management. Raise an invoice from it whenever you are ready. The billing page shows your monthly retainer total and, client by client, which months are paid.

What it does not replace

Superlane does not replace your accounting software. It does not file GST returns or prepare GSTR reports, and it does not connect to Tally. It also cannot create e-invoices with an IRN, or e-way bills, so a business that must e-invoice needs another tool for that.

Each workspace bills under one GSTIN, in rupees, at 18% GST. If you bill goods, or services at other GST rates, Superlane's invoices are not a fit today.

Common questions

Can I create a GST invoice from a won deal?

Not directly. Invoices are raised for a billing client, and when you mark a deal won, Superlane offers to create that client from the contact's details.

Which GST rates does Superlane support?

Invoices charge GST at 18%, the standard rate for most services, as CGST and SGST or as IGST. Goods or services billed at other rates are not supported today.

Can I invoice without a GSTIN?

Yes. Non-GST invoices carry no tax and have their own number series. Only GST invoices need your GSTIN.

Does Superlane send payment reminders to my clients?

No. It shows unpaid invoices by how late they are, and you record payments as they arrive. An automatic overdue check is built but not switched on yet.
